This was my third opinion on whether or not I needed a new shoulder. The two other opinions stated because of the severe arthritis in my shoulder it looked liked this was the only option. 35-40 years ago I had 3 shoulder surgeries because a diving accident and a football accident. For all these decades I have had no issues with my shoulder, I was a Physical Education teacher taught Strength and Conditioning, and personally lift weights regularly with no issues. This Fall 2019 I was raking wet leaves all day and then my shoulder flared up.... I received x-rays and an MRI. This was the first I was aware that my left shoulder had severe arthritis. The images also indicated I had a significant bone spur.
Dr. Mehta suggested first to determine where my pain is coming from.....is it the arthritis that I never had issues with, or could the bone spur have inflamed soft tissue. So instead of jumping to ‘Get a new shoulder’ and be out of commission for 12 weeks, he suggested getting a cortisone shot to the bone spur and see if inflammation is reduced .... if so, then remove the bone spur and be able to return to work in 2 weeks........duh! I’m getting the cortisone shot.
I appreciate Dr. Mehta’s thorough analysis and the fact the he didn’t automatically suggest the more evasive surgery and more personally profitable option. Hopefully the bone spur is the issue.

Not only did Dr. Mehta repair my full thickness rotary cuff tear, he also found and repaired other age / work related problem areas in and around my shoulder. He said I would be off work a little longer due to me being in construction but that I would be good as new. He was so right! I feel like a new man. I am back to work now and very pleased with the results Dr. Mehta surgery outcome. I can't thank him enough!

Dr. Vishal Mehta is an extreme patient advocate. Not once in my nearly year long recovery did I feel he or his staff did anything without my personal health being the number one concern. I was the top priority regardless of 2nd or 3rd party concerns. He is also very confident in his work and medical decisions. From start to finish I listened to his directions and suggestions and never questioned them. I can't recommend Dr. Mehta enough to friends, family, or even strangers looking for orthopedic help. A highly recommend sports medicine doctor who happens to also be a great human being means you'll be in great hands from your first visit to your last.

I carefully researched Sports Medicine Physicians in the area, who met my specialty needs. My work experience in healthcare taught me the physicians with the best outcomes, see patients, teach, and do research. These qualifications led me to Dr. Metha. I was also blessed to have a Dr. friend who had worked along side Dr. Metha, and quickly confirmed my selection. I scheduled with Dr. Metha, and was sold after the first meeting. Communication with Dr. Metha and the members of his team are their greatest attribute. Proven process runs a close second. I knew when, where, and why, everything was about to happen. Confirming calls and text communication pre and post op were a constant from the healthcare team. I followed their instruction pre-surgery, the day of, post visits, and during rehab, all of which led to a successful outcome. I was released by Dr. Metha earlier this week. His last words to me, "We are here for you. If you need anything, find me or any member of my team, and we will help". Kind of says it all! Thanks!

I was blessed to be directed to Dr. Mehta by my physical therapist. Being in the healthcare field I have come to know and work for many doctors and I can assure you he is the best. He has great bedside manners and listens to your concerns. He explains things so you can understand what is going on. He takes the necessary time to evaluate and treat you as an individual. I would highly recommend Dr. Mehta and his staff for orthopedic care! All the staff at Fox Valley Orthopedics are friendly and professional.

I loved the care I received from Dr. Mehta and his staff - I admire all of you! They were able to see me super quick after my fall and I really appreciated that. Dr. Mehta explained things to me and drew pictures so I understood better. He took time to evaluate and treat me at all my appointments, answered my questions and understood my health goals of running and working out. He is the best! I received excellent care! I have been going to Fox Valley Orthopedics for all of my other orthopedic care and I'm always pleased with their friendly and professional ways of doing business. Dr. Mehta is my new favorite! Dr. Mehta is one of the best doctor/surgeon I've ever been to. His staff are very nice and very helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. Mehta. I went to see Dr. Metha for a second opinion on a 1st surgery that didn't have good results. He went through the MRI with me showing me where there were problems and explained to me in through but not overwhelmig detail as to what was needed. I felt at ease with what lay ahead with a second surgery. Everything was exactly how he explained and I knew right after my surgery that the problem had been fixed. Physical therapy was exactly has he had explained and 13 months later I am feeling better than I had in years. I'm sorry for the late review but at least it's a testiment to his quailty of work. The entire staff was terrific at the office and the surgicenter. Thank you for everything. Carol

A friend recommended me to Dr. Mehta and after having my shoulder surgery I have also recommended Dr.Mehta to co-workers with shoulder issues. He told me my MRI showed some tearing around my labrum, but nothing that warranted surgery... in other words, he's not the car mechanic that's going to sell you on something you don't need! Cool, confident, professional Doctor. My surgery and recovery is going great and I contribute that to Dr.Mehta. Highly recommended!
